Aluminum electrolytic capacitor has larger capacitor, larger series resistance, larger inductance and temperature sensitivity. It is suitable for the occasion of little temperature change and low working frequency (not higher than 25kHz), and can be used for low frequency filtering (parallel filtering effect of electrolytic capacitor is lower frequency difference at high frequency). Aluminum electrolytic capacitors have polarity, so the correct polarity must be guaranteed when they are installed, otherwise there is a risk of explosion.
Compared with aluminium electrolytic capacitors, tantalum electrolytic capacitors have obvious advantages in series resistance, inductance and temperature stability. However, its working voltage is low.
The rated voltage of aluminium electrolytic capacitor is 1.3 times as surge voltage of capacitor. When the operating voltage is higher than 160V, it is rated working voltage + 50V as surge voltage. This is the voltage guaranteed by the manufacturer and can be tolerated in a short time. When the capacitor is in surge voltage, the current will be very large, usually 10-15 times the normal situation, if the time is too long, it will burst. Therefore, in general, the voltage of aluminium capacitor should be selected a little higher, and the actual working voltage should be 70-80% of the nominal voltage.
